About Ciarán

Artist Statement

Ciarán is an interdisciplinary artist based in Limerick, whose practice primarily explores photography and video. Through his work, he investigates themes of identity and purpose, drawing from his lived experiences with sport, travel, religion, and the outdoors. Influenced by a deep love of cinema, Ciarán's visual creations emphasize aesthetic texture, blending playful experimentation with a nostalgic sensibility. His use of handheld footage and vintage television screens evoke memory and longing, creating an intimate dialogue between the past and present.

Ciarán often employs non-linear narratives, fragmenting and reassembling footage to reflect the fluidity of memory and perception. His process embodies a search for truth and meaning through art-making, driven by a sense of yearning and existential inquiry. Ultimately, his work invites viewers to contemplate the fundamental questions of existence: What is the meaning of it all?

Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher, Ciarán's primary goal is to inspire the next generation to create art, nurturing students' passion and confidence to express themselves creatively.
